Dr Andy Phillips has been Chief Allied Health Professions Officer at Hawkes Bay District Health Board since April 2015. Andy has current appointments in New Zealand as Co-Chair of the Systems Integration, timeliness, efficiency, effectiveness and productivity group, the Strategic Advisory Group on Innovation and Expert Advisory Group to the Ministry of Health. Prior to this, Andy was an Executive Director and Board Member at ABMU Health Board in Wales from 2010. Andy started his career in clinical research with the UK Medical Research Council in 1987, was appointed as a Consultant Clinical Scientist in 1993 and subsequently led 5 Audiology Services in the UK. Andy was employed on secondment to a number of UK Government Agencies as an expert in Clinical Governance, Quality Improvement and Patient Safety including the Commission for Healthcare Improvement, Healthcare Inspectorate Wales, Health Care Commission, Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education and the Health and Care Professions Council. Andy’s research career has progressed from large scale epidemiological studies to developing novel physiological tests. For the past seventeen years Andy has been developing and implementing frameworks to support clinicians to build better relationships with patients.
