Meet the team

What is the challenge your project is going to address and how does it connect to the theme of 'How can we improve across system boundaries?

Our project tackles the challenge of prolonged wait times for mental health services, a persistent issue in primary care settings in the UK. By integrating coaching, counseling, and psychology across system boundaries, we aim to catch mental health problems early and provide holistic support. This aligns with improving across system boundaries by fostering collaboration between sectors, ensuring marginalized individuals receive timely, comprehensive care. Indicative data shows decreased wait times, empowering individuals to become more self-sovereign and contributing positively to community well-being.

What does your project aim to achieve?

The Empowerment Workshops and Wellbeing Centers project by The WellBeing Concierge aims to empower women facing challenges by providing holistic support through workshops, follow-up programs, and establishment of wellbeing centers. This initiative targets women affected by domestic violence, trauma, and adversity, aiming to cultivate resilience, enhance employability, and promote mental health and wellbeing. By offering tailored services and creating a supportive community environment, the project seeks to improve the lives of over 1,000 women across Buckinghamshire, London, Northamptonshire, and Bedfordshire, to begin with, contributing to personal growth, empowerment, and breaking the cycle of adversity. Through collaboration with partner organizations like Mind and Stop Domestic Abuse Charity, the project also aims to address health inequalities and advocate for women’s rights, amplifying its impact and fostering positive societal change.

How will the project be delivered?

The Empowerment Workshops and Wellbeing Centers project will be delivered through a structured approach led by The WellBeing Concierge Ltd, supported by a dedicated team. Monthly workshops will engage up to 40 women, focusing on skill development and trauma recovery. A 12-week follow-up program will provide tailored counseling and support to over 300 women annually. Two wellbeing centers will offer safe spaces for around 200 women monthly, equipped with counseling rooms and communal areas. Skill-building sessions will enhance employability for at least 100 women. Collaboration with local organizations and joint fundraising events will ensure comprehensive assistance. Clear objectives, measurement mechanisms, and risk management strategies will guide project delivery, ensuring meaningful support and sustainable outcomes for women facing challenging circumstances.

How is your project going to share learning?

Our project shares learning through comprehensive evaluations after each session, gathering feedback from participants to assess effectiveness and areas for improvement. Additionally, we conduct regular reviews with our team and partner organizations to identify insights and best practices. Findings are disseminated through reports, presentations, and workshops within the Q community and relevant stakeholders, facilitating knowledge exchange and informing future initiatives. By documenting successes, challenges, and innovative approaches, our project contributes valuable insights to Q members and the wider healthcare system, promoting continuous learning and improvement nationwide.

  1. Hi again Yvonne.

I think I may be able to help with all of the areas you have invited contributions for. It's just a question of how much I can contribute, given constraints on my time through prior commitments.

    1. Expertise in mental health interventions and trauma-informed care - I am likely to draw on personal experience here, especially my work with women suffering from bi-polar disorder.

    2. Insights on cross-sector collaboration and partnership building - I do a lot of work with churches

    3. Resources for establishing and operating wellbeing centers - I'm a publisher and can assist with the provision of books, possibly

    4. Access to funding opportunities and grant writing support - I have some micro-financing ideas that you may be interested in

    5. Guidance on measuring project impact and evaluating outcomes - subject to my availability

    6. Networking opportunities with potential partner organizations - I excel in this area. But again, subject to my availability.

    7. Knowledge sharing on best practices in empowering women and promoting holistic wellbeing - I have been working with UNIFEM, UN Women and various other entities specializing in working with women and girls for decades.

  2. Hi Yvonne, I really (REALLY!!) like the sound of this project. I'm a bit pressed for time at the minute, but am keen to contribute and support you anyway I can.

If you don't hear from me (I suffer from Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) please pop me a reminder.

    Kind regards

  3. This sounds like it could be really helpful to a lot of women, and research has shown how beneficial support during waiting can be. An idea to improve this bid would be to include some information about the demand for this. You've mentioned the number of women you could help through this programme, but there isn't information about the number who are waiting for treatment and would be suitable for this support. Waiting lists are a national issue, and at SHSC we are also focusing projects that support our service users to wait well. However, I think we also need to be aware of how engaged service users are for this support. It would also be interesting to know the percentage of women you would be supporting with your proposed capacity in relation to the number waiting for services in your geographical area. Best of luck!

  4. Sounds great and a very worthy project.  I'm not sure what I can offer in terms of helping but I have some expertise in QI and evaluation.  The only thing that struck me where that this seems like a very big project (appreciate you've mentioned other fundraising) but I wonder if you can take  a very specific part of the project to create a smaller sub project (even possibly in terms of locality)?  This might help you get a model/process which would enable future scale up.  This would also help you define measures - what is the aim, what would success look like if this was working well and what can you measure around this?  i.e. possibly mental health score of women participating, uptake etc.  I hope that helps and will watch your out for your project developments.
