Our guest speaker Queen’s Nurse Suzanne Turner opened a conversation about incivility in the workplace.

23 Aug 2023
13:00 – 14:00

The session, was led by Queen’s Nurse Suzanne Turner, and explored the idea of incivility within health and social care and the impact this can have on staff morale and the lives of those receiving care. Pre-session reading which may be of interest, can be found at Civility Saves Lives.

This session will be of interest to colleagues interested in staff well-being and those interested in patient safety and quality improvement.

Following the presentation by Suzanne, attendees were invited to discuss and ask questions. If you have experienced incivility in your workplace, please refer to local procedures as to the actions you can take. By the end of the session, there had been a co-design of ideas to add to a postcard offering views to support civility in the workplace.

When times are challenging, it matters more than ever that we are kind and civil to each other to improve staff retention, morale and even save lives.

A handy flashcard and the slides from the session are available.

This event was hosted by the Staff Wellbeing and Quality Health Care SIG.
