Biography

Hi, I'm Lisa, and I work with the Quality Improvement Support Team at the Care Inspectorate. I have a PGDip in QI and am undertaking the SCIL program with NHS Education for Scotland (NES).

My team provides specialist quality improvement knowledge and skills to the social care workforce, provider groups, and Care Inspectorate colleagues. We support, educate, and enable others to improve how they help people who experience care in Scotland, working collaboratively with scrutiny and assurance colleagues.

One of my most recent pieces of work is being part of the team delivering the Care Home Improvement Programme (CHIP), a facilitated learning program for staff working in older people's care homes in Scotland.  The programme will consist of four in-person learning events and designated improvement adviser support for the duration of the five-month programme.  Each service will be supported in completing an improvement project based on the findings of their most recent inspection.

I am also part of the delivery team for the CEIM Experience Improvement Model Leaders programme, alongside Health Improvement Scotland, NES, and the Scottish Social Services Council. We work with health, social care and social work staff to enable them to adopt CEIM, an experience improvement model for health and social care. CEIM is a simple framework that supports health and social care teams to make improvements directly related to feedback in a person-centred way.  Find out more here https://ihub.scot/improvement-programmes/people-led-care/person-centred-design-and-improvement/ceim/

Before coming to the CI, I worked in a CAMHS service for children and young people and became the Improvement Support Officer for the MH pilot of the Patient Safety Programme. I believe in young people having a voice to advocate for their care, and reducing stigma against their age group, care-experienced young people, and mental health.

I also strongly believe in using arts-based practices in social care to improve well-being and give expression and voice to those experiencing care. Two of my previous projects were 'Arts in Care' and 'Film in Care', which were created in collaboration with Luminate Scotland, Creative Scotland, The Baring Foundation (Arts in Care), and the University of Dundee and Edinburgh (Film in Care).

A little bit about me: I love people, reading, and creative writing, and I've just finished writing my first novel.  If you fancy a chat about work or anything else, please do get in touch!
