The unheard voices of the third sector

For those of us who have worked in the third sector, we know how powerful and life changing the services that we deliver can be. In some of my previous roles I’ve seen how third sector organisations can work alongside health and social care, but it’s always positioned on the outside. If there are budget cuts then it’s the first thing to go and will ultimately have a huge negative impact on the end user.

Since setting up my social enterprise last year, it’s become more apparent just how big the gap is between where we are and where it could be. The ‘Third sector’ Special Interest Group (SIG) isn’t going to solve that- just to manage expectations.

This open call was a space for those in the Q community from the third sector to come together and share ideas, experiences, stories and really a space to learn from each other about how we can better work with the health and social care setting.

In this first meeting, I briefly shared about what the first 12 months have looked like for me, what I’d like to get out of this group. We then heard from attendees about what they would find useful in this group.

This is the ‘Third sector’ Special Interest Group’s first event- join the conversation.
