Q in-person Visit: Transforming mental health services at Living Well Salford

Hear about how the pioneering Living Well model of transforming mental health services has been adopted in Salford.

26 Jun 2024
10:00 – 15:30

Langworthy Cornerstone, 451 Liverpool Street Salford M6 5QQ

Living Well Salford is a community mental health service, delivered in partnership between Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust, and local organisations including Mind in Salford, Six Degrees, Wellbeing Matters, START, Lingua GM and Salford CVS as well as Salford Primary Care Network.

The model uses a multi-disciplinary team made up of staff from across the partnership to connect people to integrated support. The service pathways and delivery models have been co-designed and draw on local community assets and existing offers. This has also now extended into urgent care through a crisis cafe – The Listening Lounge.

Over the past four years, Living Well Salford has amassed considerable learning about what it takes to develop truly integrated and person-centred mental health support. They have developed and embedded a learning environment that allows for ongoing innovation and quality improvement.

At this Visit the team will share their learning on site at the Langworthy Cornerstone community hub, where integration is physically manifested through the office.

This Visit will be of particular benefit to anyone with an interest in new models of integrated services and building a culture of QI in an integrated service, as well as anyone working in mental health.

Why Living Well Salford?

Salford was one of the first sites the Living Well model scaled to, and has a considerable amount of well-established tools and evaluation data.

The Living Well team is multidisciplinary, and includes Occupational Therapists, Nurses, Recovery Workers, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Peer Support Workers, Social Workers, Therapists, Employment Workers, Welfare Rights and Housing Worker.

The culture and ethos of Salford Living Well means they champion the array of strengths that each individual brings to the team, and celebrate the rich range of experience and expertise available to draw upon through their partnership.

Living Well Salford has been supported by Living Well UK, a programme that is helping local systems develop new models of care for mental health in community mental health and primary care services, inspired by an approach developed in Lambeth, South London and now scaled to several sites across England and Scotland. During the Visit we will also be joined by one of the members of the Living Well UK team.
