Listening to colleagues, it’s clear that supporting staff wellbeing is essential for supporting people in their care. Supporting managers’ wellbeing is essential for supporting people on their teams. We all benefit from experiencing compassion from others as well as showing it to ourselves.
We hope to create a safe space for those working in health and social care to share and explore ideas to support staff wellbeing, including managers’ wellbeing, as well as share and practice some tools which can support us in showing compassion to ourselves and others.
We have planned two different events and times as we know sometimes making time in the diary can be a challenge. The dates are:
Tuesday 2 May 16.00-17.00
Thursday 3 Aug 12.00-13.00
Themes which have emerged from conversations so far include:
- Managing guilt and being able to say no
- Avoiding/managing mental exhaustion
- Maintaining energy
- Strategies for how to introduce staff wellbeing conversations and how to better look after myself and my colleagues
- Something to use and share with staff and volunteers who have asked for help with supporting themselves
What we cover on the day will be determined by those who come along, this is your space, because you and your teams matter. We shall also share a resource which is a helpful grounding exercise for managing difficult emotions.
Hoping you can make it along, you do matter, we all do, and building a culture of collective care may help us all get through the challenges we may face to suffer less and have an improved sense of wellbeing.
This event is organised by the Staff Wellbeing and Quality Health Care Special Interest Group.
