This session explores how Sally Oxley, Clinical Team Lead from the Wound Management Clinic at Camborne Redruth Community Hospital, has developed a holistic model of care that has improved outcomes for patients.

6 Dec 2023
19:00 – 20:00

About the session

We are delighted to welcome Sally Oxley, Clinical Team Lead, from the Wound Management Clinic at Camborne Redruth Community Hospital, Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

Sally and her team were CHA Innovation and Best Practice Award winners in 2023. Read all about their innovative wound management clinic here .

We will hear about Sally’s experience of developing a valued local service, extending the training and skillsets of staff, improved collaborations and involvement in research. The service has seen improved outcomes for patients in the management of wounds through a holistic model of care.

Cornwall is an early adopter of the National Lower Leg Wound Strategy. The National Wound Care Strategy Programme is underpinned by the principles that:

  • Wound care should not be viewed as a separate clinical issue but be integrated into care of underlying co-morbidities that cause or contribute to wounding and delayed/ non-healing.
  • The National Wound Care Strategy Programme is a long-term commitment to improving wound care.
  • Success will depend on recognising and addressing the interdependencies between the different professional groups and services involved in wound care.
  • The key priority is to improve patient care.
