Could Buurtzorg work in Britain?

Learn about the results of a five year pan-European study into the opportunities and challenges for the pioneering Buurtzorg approach to care at home.

11 May 2023
12:00 – 13:00

Buurtzorg Nederland has grown from a start-up social enterprise to become the leading Dutch provider of community health and care services and a global leader in self-management team work. It has pioneered service improvements around person-centred care at home, and continuity of care, that are increasingly popular and necessary in countries with ageing populations.

What would it take to replicate that success in other European countries, and what might get in the way? Those were the questions the European Union’s Interreg 2Seas programme set out to answer by supporting a four year project aimed at learning what it involves to take a successful innovation in one country and apply it in others.

The project has produced a detailed report that identifies some 250 barriers and challenges to applying the Buurtzorg model and a guidance note about how to go about it. The British participants were Kent Community Health FT, Kent County Council, Medway Community Health and the social enterprise Public World. In this webinar you can hear from their representatives about what they have done and what they learnt.

This event has the support of the Reimagining Health and Care Special Interest Group.
