    Thanks Emma,

Evaluation is such a broad subject, that many of us us choose to specialise in one aspect only. For example how many people are really confident in health economics, qualitative research, survey design and analysis and activity analysis. Some people work with existing data, others produce new data streams.

    I think that the…Read more

    • Brilliant point Tim, Is there a way that you think the group could address this? One suggestion made recently might be to have some smaller sub-groups around a common theme?

We have been very interested in this area for some time and have developed a number of PROMs that address this area, such as our measures of Social Determinants, Loneliness, Neighbour relationships and Personal safety. See https://bmjopenquality.bmj.com/content/9/1/e000789.

However, I think that it may require both (1) and (2) – not just (1). We also have evidence that you must ask…Read more

We have been working with Surrey and Borders NHS FT, who have developed a new service called GPimhs (GP integrated mental health services) and we have been using a short set of patient-reported measures to look at changes in patients’ perceptions of their health status, well-being, health confidence, patient experience, service integration, shared…Read more

    • Dear Tim,

Thank you, that sounds great. Have these been patients who have already been quite engaged with primary care prior to starting doing these patient-reported measures? And have you found that their engagement has improved by using these? Intuitively one would feel that getting them to self-report and note improvement or deteriorations…Read more

    Hi Gayle,

You may like to review my recent paper in BMJ OPen Quality (“Measure what we want”), which describes several measures that should be useful for measuring staff and patients’ perceptions of innovations, organisation culture, patient experience, outcomes etc.
