I currently work for the NHS as the head of professional practice. I was previously the clinical educational lead: non-medical.
The clinical educational lead role was a very strategic one and created lots of opportunity for small scale and larger scale change within my organisation. The role linked in with innovation teams, workforce, quality of care groups, ICB collaboration and required a lot of networking. It was a very eclectic mix of opportunities including utilising my knowledge and lived experiences to review processes, implement change and up-skill individuals to improve the experiences of our staff, patients and learners across the trust.
The head of professional practice role came as a result of some of the changes I implemented to grow and develop clinical education and development within the organisation. This role will lead the design, development and delivery of an education and development framework to support nursing, midwifery and AHP registrants to transition, adapt and grow within their roles. The aim is to develop a cycle of continuous learning that supports continuing professional development, progression pathways and extending the scope of individual's practices.
Outside of work, I am a patient, disability and LGBTQ+ advocate, speaking at conferences and events such as Patients as partners, HMRA and EMA reviews and Cambridge Pride.
