Evaluation Guide (Quality Coach Development Programme)

This guide has been designed for individuals or teams who are running the Quality Coach Development Programme in their organisation/system. This guide is split into two parts: part one outlines a suggested framework for evaluating the experience, delivery, benefits and outcomes of the programme. Part two covers delegate assessment.

The Quality Coach Development Programme is a free-to-adopt educational resource for Q members to use within their organisations or systems. It is an “off-the-shelf” product; meaning that you can focus on delivery, instead of the design and development of the content.

The resource includes slidesets, a delegate handbook, and guides for how to implement and deliver the programme, as well as other high-quality resources. The content and programme structure have been created to encourage local adaptation. We want you to bring your own expertise, coaching experiences, and personality to the programme.

In adopting the programme, you will be able to upskill staff to independently coach others through quality improvement and change. This brings a broad range of possible benefits to an organisation, including improved outcomes, experience of care, staff experience and retention and a culture of continuous improvement.

The Evaluation Guide has been created to support the Programme Leader of the programme with your organisation to evaluate the impact of the programme, as well as to assess delegate learning.

The guide has two distinct sections:

    1. Part 1 outlines a suggested framework for evaluating the experience, delivery, benefits and outcomes of the programme. This uses the Kirkpatrick model to explore and evaluate the programme locally.
    2. Part 2 provides recommendations for how you could undertake formative and summative assessment of delegates on the programme.

The materials for the programme are completely free-to-use, as long as you credit the authors. The programme has been co-designed by a group of national experts is quality improvement.

We encourage you to use all the resources for the programme collectively. For a full overview visit: https://q.health.org.uk/resource/quality-coach-development-programme/
