Let’s face it, it’s been a challenging year for many in the NHS and we know that much of our workforce is burnt out. Now, more than ever, we need to address the large workforce issue we face after all ‘we can’t give what we don’t have.’ It’s time to restore, to care for ourselves and each other, to bring back or increase our own joy in work. The evidence tells us a happy workforce provides safer care, more efficient services, more psychological safety and better experience for our patients. Can we afford to work on this? We can’t afford not to work on this.
This Joy fuelled session covered:
- How the Royal Free London used the IHI joy in work framework to run a trust wide joy in work collaborative
- What joy in work meant for the Emergency Department team and how this helped them to be resilient during the pandemic
- Understand what matters to staff as an approach to restore and recover
