Health organisations around the world are recognising the need to shift from a focus on quality improvement methodology to the broader implementation of an approach to managing and improving quality.
Improvement Cymru has spent the past four years researching, developing and testing a quality management system (QMS) approach that enables a health organisation to operate with quality at its core to continuously improve to meet the needs of the population it serves.
This online Visit provides the opportunity to learn about the development and implementation of Improvement Cymru’s QMS. ou will be able to identify the lessons for your own workplace and context from the approach being used in pilot organisations and in the development of a national strategic improvement programme.
Why Improvement Cymru?
Improvement Cymru is part of the Quality, Safety and Improvement directorate of the NHS Wales Executive. It works alongside NHS Wales Executive colleagues, Welsh Government and wider NHS to support the creation of the best quality health and care system for Wales so that everyone has access to safe, effective and efficient care in the right place and at the right time.
They translate the policy direction and standards set by Welsh Government into action, improving the quality and safety of healthcare in Wales.
Improvement Cymru has piloted a QMS in two organisations to date as well as applying it to strategic improvement programmes of work.
The Visit is an opportunity to hear about their experience of developing and embedding this approach, what it has achieved and how it continues to evolve.
