Is Amah Shah presenting something on QMS in the coming weeks? I have this in my mind and want to attend but I can’t find the information anywhere. Can’t remember where I read about this?

Please have a look at my post re what constitutes a ‘Management System’. If your ‘Management System’ is not compliant then in my view, as a Quality Professional, then it’s not a Management System. Anything else just will not do the trick. Same as will not work.

QI vs QMS in the NHS? One thing is certain – You will never improve quality until you start managing it and the NHS don’t manage quality.

What is a Management System? See:https://catmalvern.co.uk/Lectures/ManagementSystems/Index.html
Be sure that If you are talking about a Management System you are not just talking about the same old!
The requirements of a management system are quite specific. If you don’t meet those requirements then you do NOT have a management system.

Hi Tom,
This looks quite helpful but many of the links don’t seem to work?I’m very interested to consider a gap analysis with the definition of a management system but couldn’t see all the info needed from this.
-
The links all work it’s just that I’ve not yet had time to produce all the text yet. I’m working on it and will be there soon. I thought it was worth posting it at this early stage as it contains lots of detail already. Maybe to do a proper gap analysis you will need to get a copy of the standard. In the fullness of time I will produce a template.

Another amazing chart, Tom! Please let us know when the gaps are filled (though no rush, I know this is really tricky to make)

Hi colleagues, we are currently developing our in-house competency framework for our Quality Academy, particularly for QMS competencies for CQI and clinical audit teams. Has anyone done this similar piece of work that you could share please? Happy to collaborate and share my draft work too.

I did a bit of work in this area some time ago. I’ll find it and will share. No response last time I shared it here!

Found it. It’s included in the ‘Documents’ to this SIG from the last time I posted about it. It started life as a QI Maturity Matrix (unfinished) from a Q Exchange project , I think (2018), to which I had an input. I’ve modified it a bit and called it a QMatrix. Q for quality more generally rather than QI specifically. If you change it could you…Read more

Hi Ernesto the CQP MCQI framework would be a good starting point and you can pick the relevant competencies and adapt in the context of your local needs?

I’m going to be posting on the subject of management systems. As a starting point I had a quick chat with ChatGPT. Here is a transcript:
What are the key characteristics of a Management System?

Hi Tom,
You say that ‘No NHS Trust has a quality management system other than in specific, regulated, areas‘ – meaning that full-blown (ISO-compliant?) type management systems with audit trails just don’t exist outside those specific narrow areas, right?
Yet all round the UK organisations says they have a QMS. I guess you’re suggesting that the…Read more

There is a QMS webinar on the 10th October. The registration page is on the NHS Impact page on NHS Futures. Let me know if you need the link, I’ll send when I’m back in the office
I don’t think that it’s been posted on this SIG.
My mistake it was on the NHS Impact website… link here: https://www.events.england.nhs.uk/events/nhs-impact-masterclass-quality-management-systems
