Michael Canavan, RGN, Dip N, is the Portfolio Lead for Quality Management Systems in Healthcare Improvement Scotland.  Michael has had a varied career working as a nurse and then specialising in Resuscitation.  As the Lead for Resuscitation, Michael developed a keen interest in improvement methods to support the development of both the resuscitation training and response services.  As a graduate of the Scottish Improvement Leader programme, Michael went on to become a QI Lead in a local territorial health board whilst also leading several cohorts of the Scottish Improvement Leader programme.  He took up post in Healthcare Improvement Scotland as Portfolio Lead in May 2019.
