During the Katie Rose’s enjoyable recent Zoom about the new Buurtzorg-inspired Blueprint for children’s social care, Brendan from Buurtzorg UK & Ireland raised the issue of whether the term ‘blueprint’ risks giving staff the impression that this is another imposed reorganisation rather than an opportunity to work more collaboratively with their clients to co-create solutions.
Brendan has blogged more about this topic here: https://buurtzorg.org.uk/not-so-much-a-blueprint-as-a-guide-to-creativity/If you missed our Zoom with Katie, you can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OWsnGhr9qM&t=4s

Thanks for posting this Matthew. I completely agree with Brendan, blueprints hide the fact that this is about changing mindsets, its about discovering what we do that we need to unlearn and learn new ways, and its about staff being part of the change so they are engaged and part of it.
Though a lot of people seem to need to see more concrete plans, such as blueprint, too.
Perhaps they even play a key role as lobbying tools?
Matthew, if leaders need a blueprint in this type of change, in my experience it is the role of the interventionist to help them develop that plan. If they still need a plan, then they are maybe not the kind of leader that should take on such a transformational change?
