I have been a Consultant Gastroenterologist in Sheffield since 1994 and lead for the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Centre. I have been involved in service redesign for different areas of gastroenterology including inflammatory bowel diseases (ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease) and gastrointestinal haemorrhage and as a lead author of national guidelines for inflammatory bowel diseases for the British Society of Gastroenterology and NICE. I have undertaken clinical and laboratory research with an h index of 50. I am currently the Chief Investigator for the AWARE-IBD project putting people with inflammatory bowel disease at the centre, funded by The Health Foundation Common Ambition programme.
