Hello me again! I’m doing a quite a bit of reflection at the moment, you may have noticed @Hilda! hehe

I will leave people with this thought…in a science and IT driven world could we create more space to consider faith, spirituality and God in our work and healthcare world…..

    • Living our values and seeing ourselves as part of something more than ourselves I think matters for people working in health and social care as well as the values which underpin the agencies they work for which I think need to be in sync for people to fulfil their potential for themselves and others. It helps us when times are challenging and reminds us we are not alone. This video was made to share what COPE Scotland stands for, sorry if I have shared this before https://www.cope-scotland.org/mental-health-videos/entry/a-message-to-the-world

Caring, compassion and kindness to others as well as ourselves are surely core values to any public service and a conversation worth having is, how are these values manifest in the systems around us and if they are not, what needs to change. Yes it matters we care about ourselves, but we are interdependent so surely that means we also need to care about others too in a way we would want them to care about us?

We each may have our own philosophy, faith, perhaps influenced by what we learn and are made aware of. When I first studied Mindfulness, I was introduced to the Noble Eightfold Path, it made sense to me

      The Noble Eightfold Path

      Right understanding (Samma ditthi)
      Right thought (Samma sankappa)
      Right speech (Samma vaca)
      Right action (Samma kammanta)
      Right livelihood (Samma ajiva)
      Right effort (Samma vayama)
      Right mindfulness (Samma sati)
      Right concentration (Samma samadhi)

There are many faiths which offer commandments aimed at helping us be kinder to each other, whatever our beliefs may be, surely kindness is something we share in common, and how do we put that back into the systems with a balance that recognises its not always easy, that some things are not easy to accept or live with, but, if we find ways to work through that, we can suffer less

      Hilda 🙂

      • Thank you Hilda – yes building compassion, care and kindness are definitely values I think we share and weaving them into our work is a must. Thanks lots to think about 🙂
