    Did you know that Quality Management is more about error reduction than quality improvement or QI?

    I have talked about error reduction in the NHS but if you really want to know about it read Oops! why things go wrong – understanding and controlling error.

      Hi Tom, QMS ans SMS are highly synergistic and complement each other, depending on the industry, they can be integrated in different way to improve quality of care, safety, effectiveness and patient experience as long we manage to avoid contradiction in practice. A great book that resonates!

        Yes, that synergistic relationship would be great to see in the NHS. Another thing in addition to error that is an issue is ‘Work Arounds’. I’ve talked about this subject as well. Have a read of ‘Nurses’ workarounds in acute healthcare settings’ and ‘The power of autonomy and resilience in healthcare delivery’.(I can provide full references if required).
