Q Lab Test Teams

Learn more about the five test test teams and the challenges they seek to address in their improvement projects for Q Lab 4.

We’re delighted to share five test teams who are working together to develop and test interventions to reduce waiting list delays in elective care. Our selected teams are receiving upfront funding and support through a series of workshops over 9 months to generate ideas and interventions that can be implemented in practice. Test teams have been allocated co-researchers to work with them to share insights from their work with other Lab participants and the wider improvement community.

Aneurin Bevan University Health Board

Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is the local health board of NHS Wales for Gwent, in the south-east of Wales. The team are exploring how they can reduce the current waits for people suspected of having head and neck cancer, involving collaboration across different departments and two hospitals.

East of England Paediatrics

East of England Paediatrics is part of the Local Education and Training Board for Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, Norfolk, Suffolk, and Essex Health Education East of England (HEEoE). The team are testing how service providers in Hertfordshire and West Essex can better meet the rising demand for community paediatric service appointments.

South Doc Services

South Doc Services (SDS) is a non-profit making GP cooperative in South Birmingham. This GPs co-operative in the West Midlands are exploring the root causes of waits in acute urology services and how to shift to more delivery at GP level.

Stockport NHS FT

Stockport NHS Foundation Trust is an NHS foundation trust, which runs Stepping Hill Hospital as well as other community and specialist services in Stockport. The team are exploring how patients on high opioids and chronic pain relief on the pre-operative list can be seen by the pain management service, to better meet their needs and minimise delays.

UCLH Paediatric Research

UCLH Clinical Research Facility is a purpose-built environment dedicated to experimental medicine and clinical research in paediatrics. The team are taking an equity lens to understanding and reducing young people’s rheumatology clinic non-attendance and supporting them holistically.
