Ruth is a Senior Healthcare Evaluation Scientist at CEDAR (Centre for healthcare Evaluation, Device Assessment & Research) - part of Cardiff & Vale University Health Board (NHS Wales). She has a BSc (Hons) in Anatomy and Human Biology (University of Liverpool), an MPhil in Dentistry (University of Birmingham), an MSc in Clinical Research (Cardiff University), and a PgCert in Health Economics (University of Aberdeen).
Having worked for CEDAR for over a decade, she has extensive experience of leading and delivering a variety of projects including evidence reviewing and analysis of linked healthcare data on behalf of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). In recent years she has also been seconded to the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), and worked part-time for Health Technology Wales (HTW).
Ruth is particularly interested in mixed methods research, implementation science, impact evaluation, and quality improvement, and is a PRINCE2 project management practitioner. She is currently Chief Investigator of a process evaluation using qualitative techniques to gain insight into biomarker use and antibiotic prescribing decisions in critical care; this study is designed to complement the UK-wide ADAPT-Sepsis trial.
