Kate first qualified as a community pharmacist in 2004, working in challenging and diverse coastal communities and the health and justice sector supported an emerging interest in quality improvement to improve patient safety and care outcomes. Working as a Professional Support Manager across a regional footprint allowed this interest to develop further, with the ability to practice the principle of adoption and spread on a much larger scale. A move to the Patient Safety Collaborative at the Health Innovation Kent, Surrey, and Sussex in 2022 allowed Quality Improvement to become a full-time pursuit, with responsibility for the Medicine Safety Improvement Programme to reduce harm from opioids, and the System Safety Programme designed to support the Implementation and embedding of PSIRF in secondary care.
