This is such a lovely piece Ramya – I always go straight to your column when my BMJ arrives. You have capyured this so clearly and the examples of the things that sap joy out of work are spot on. I can’t join on Tuesday unfortunately, but do agree this topic is the building blocks of good QI. Thank you for keeping it so high on the agenda. We…Read more

Hi Rammya
I’d love to revisit the issue of understanding demand for GP care and if we can use ‘nudge theory’ to help people to make choices about accessing services. Also, we have some work to share on using QI to reduce the prescribing or broad spectrum antibiotics that we can share and invite others to share wat they might be doing with regare…Read more-
Thanks @joannabircher – both sound great. I’m curious about nudge theory too, and how it might be applied in the context of supporting patients to self care or choose the most appropriate service for themselves.

This is really good. Well done to everyone involved, I’ve passed it to our PCN manager to help us plan our QI meetings.

Hi Heather
Can I connect you to Sarah Luty if you don’t know her already? She is a GP working with RCGP and HF on building QI skills in General Practice and might be keen to hear more about your learning. -

Hi Joanna
Have you already been directed to the Healthwtch report?

It’s a good read and covers your area of interest.

https://www.susqi.org has some great QI resources for promoting sustainability, but weighted quite heavily towards secondary care in terms of examples/case studies.

Thanks so much Joanna – so kind of you! Yes, I think making the link between joy at work and QI is so important. If you don’t have a team who feel able to bring their best selves to work, then it’s going to be almost impossible to make any meaningful improvements. Glad you were able to dedicate some time to think about this within your own practice.
