I have a background in human factors/ergonomics and experience of a wide variety of health services research methodologies. Following a BSc in Ergonomics / Human Factors, I completed a PhD in healthcare ergonomics and patient safety, focusing on the environmental factors associated with falls in hospitalised older people. I have held research posts at Coventry University, the University of East Anglia, and CLAHRC-EM at the University of Nottingham before joining the Division of Midwifery as a Senior Research Fellow in 2017.
I am currently progressing research interests relating to patient safety, birth environments for high risk women, and using human factors methodologies to investigate the maternity care system. I am also working on projects looking at using video-calling in maternity care and developing new guidance for the Royal College of Midwives (RCM).
