The Virginia Mason Institute have designed and implemented a Production System based on the Toyota Production System. I’m working on the design of a NHS Production System. I will need some help! This is a task with a large engineering input.

    • I was looking through the recent Health Foundation publication ‘Developing Learning Health Systems in the UK’.
I am now also aware of the VM Institute and your work (process management is the foundation for quality and safety management)
I am just trying to get my head around how all the pieces of the jigsaw fit together as the more we look the more we find !
As a GP, and not as a quality manager , do you have an ‘elevator pitch’ (or picture on the lid of the jigsaw box) to explain how we share this with colleagues in primary care?

      • This is a difficult ask as I know of no examples from our NHS. It would be great to work with you to produce some illustrations and maybe a video clip to use as an ‘elevator pitch’ for primary care. If I put some ideas on paper maybe you could look at them and advise on how they could be made more relevant/understandable to your colleagues in primary care. Please understand that all my effort is as a volunteer and I have no commercial interests so will not be trying to sell anything – other that improvement. My email is t.rose.1@bham.ac.uk please email if you think this is a good idea.

    • Have a chat with Iain Smith about the North East Transformation System – the work on the Production System was done a long time ago, and continues to be built on across NE NHS services today.

    • Just catching up and this all sounds great , I will email you later too to move this on , thanks
