    Hi all,

I’m hoping you can help me. Does anyone have a QI project readiness/complexity tool they use prior to starting or supporting QI projects that they would be happy to share with me? We are looking to design one within our Trust and so any guidance to start would be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks in advance

    Chris

    • Hi @chrisjackson,

Q did do a Zoom with Prof Trish Greenhalgh some years ago, about her NASSS framework (ie nonadoption, abandonment, scale-up, spread, and sustainability) for evaluating technology projects in complexity. Do you know it? Might be well worth a look.
      Here’s the video: https://youtu.be/GxSFIlBYz0c?si=jzBwcugSl-n8s5A0
Things have moved on since then, with much more practical application of it.

There are some Q members, in Leeds, who are very happy to share how they’ve implemented this project evaluation tool in their work, and all the learnings they have – but that possible Zoom hasn’t moved any further yet.

How would you feel about helping to host a Q Zoom on it, and maybe having a chat with the people who’ve used it – before we go to other members’ question?

It would be great to set something up on this, early in 2024. We’d do all the organising – and I’m sure one of Q’s SIG would be happy to help.

But it would be great to involve someone, like you, who has a similar challenge and could really benefit from their advice and experience,

Let me know what you think.

      Matthew

PS I know there’s a tool in the Liberating Structures set that is about understanding whether challenges being faced by a project etc are complicated vs complex etc: https://www.liberatingstructures.com/27-agreement-certainty-matrix/

But it’s one that I’ve heard mixed things about. Seems like they’ve not cracked it. Not sure I’ve heard that about other Liberating Structures tools. So this certainly seems to be an area where the challenges just haven’t been overcome yet.

      • Thanks Matthew, yes happy to discuss further re supporting a Q zoom session

      • Hi Matthew,
How are you? we met on the Q Online Visit (Leeds Teaching Hospital & Virginia Mason Institute) last week in a breakout room. I’m just following up an email thread we had before Xmas and you mentioned some Q members in Leeds who had a project evaluation tool and would be happy to share; are these members from Leeds teaching hospital too? Have you contact details you can share, or feel free to share my email address with them as an introduction so I could hear of their experiences.
        It’s chris.jackson@liverpoolft.nhs.uk.
Thanks in advance for your support
        Chris

    • HI Chris,

This tool was developed by some former colleagues of mine at Cincinnati Children’s hospital. It is very rigorous and might need a bit of simplification for your context.

      Hope useful:
