    Hi folks,

Great to meet some like-minded colleagues at the event yesterday. One of the themes we touched on was shared learning. With that in mind, I am looking for any good practice examples where AHPs influence flow at the ambulance/ acute trust interface. This is part of ongoing work seeking to reduce the impact of ambulance handover delays. We have the AHP flow document, but if anyone has any further examples of work that they can share I would be grateful, whether that is directly related to the handover process (e.g. frailty at the front door, functional handover etc) or indirectly related (e.g. alternative response models, out-of-hospital pathways etc). We’re interested in case studies, but also some of the practical stuff associated with testing change, such as SoPs and business cases etc.

If anyone is interested in the subject, there is an open invite to NHS colleagues to join our virtual workspace – if anyone is interested drop me a line, or visit https://future.nhs.uk/AHIN/GroupHome to request to join.

    • hi Jaqui, Rosie Skrypak at the Royal Free Hospital was leading some of this work locally – the OT being alongside the receiving nurse at ambulance handover. Her email address is rosie.skrypak I’m sure she’d be pleased to connect and share where the work and its impact is up to. Hope that’s helpful – perhaps you can ask her to join us here!

    • Hi Jaqui,

We are in the middle of a community therapy redesign – part of the reconfiguration will, I hope build on our existing Para-doc service. I will email and link you in with them.

I will share your link with a few of our therapist who are part of the paramedic & OT service

    • Hi All
In Cornwall we are just about to embark on a new system design which includes a workstream on making sure only the right people attend ED and are admitted. Unfortunately they have not actively included AHPs in their core team set -up although we have challenged this.

@jaqualinelindridge we do have a therapy front door team that includes PT/OT/SLT/DT and generic support workers. We have a poster I can share with you re their outcomes if any use
      Regards
      Carrie

    • Being diplomatic – there were not considered across all the workstreams, and given we made a point of ensuring visible AHP engagement and participating in the original scoping piece we are extremely disappointed, On a positive note, we have now been listened to and will work to ensure AHPs are threaded through all works streams. I strongly believe the ideas and contributions of AHPs will widen the creativity and ideas net.
Are you happy to email me carrie.biddle@nhs.net and I will get the poster to you
      Regards
      Carrie
