Hi everyone, I can’t make the event on Wednesday, however I am wanting to pick your brains.. I work in the QI team in Berkshire Healthcare. I oversee the QI projects workstream of the programme and am wanting to find out what governance or processes other Trusts have in place to hear back about project progress and outcomes. We use lean methodology and train staff in Green and Yellow belt, the number of staff trained is growing and it is getting harder to ensure outcomes and learning from projects is shared across the Trust – if anyone has any tips or can share what their Trust has in place it would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou!

    • hi Sophie, I was thinking that this is something wonderful to celebrate – so much improvement you can’t keep tabs on it! Do you have awards ceremonies where improvements can be celebrated? Themed best practice sessions to showcase? Improver of the week/month/year? I think it would be great to celebrate spread too – “the pinched with pride” award perhaps that celebrates both the instigator and the area of spread – rewarding spread equally alongside innovation feels like a culture you’d want to nurture. Some trusts have very active webspace you could explore – East London FT for example. I’m not sure if anyone else has ideas?

      • Hi Caroline, thanks for this, sorry for the delayed reply I have only just seen this. Great suggestions thankyou, yes absolutely so much to be shared, learnt from and celebrated and we are not wanting to miss the opportunity to do this. We have just started improvement of the month, and ‘QI in 90 seconds’ videos to quickly share snapshots of QI work, instead of emails and newsletters which our data told us were not being read! Yes we need to improve our internal and external internet use too. Thankyou

    • Hi Sophie,
I work in the NHSI/E regional quality team that covers your trust and have spent time at a number of local providers finding out about their QI programmes.
It would be great to share your work across the local area and develop a network with other QI teams/leads. We’re trying to develop a QI leads networks in the Hampshire/IOW part of our patch.
I’d really like to find out more about your QI work and maybe come and visit?

    • Hi Sophie,
I work next door in the QI team at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS trust. We use QSIR methodology and are experiencing the similar issues to you with regards to sharing learning. We now have a specific QI award at our annual staff awards ceremony where teams can be nominated. We recently celebrated World Quality Day and used this as an opportunity to showcase the work that is being done and to share learning. We are a combined acute and community trust so reaching all of our staff is an on going challenge. We also have an Improvement Committee that is chaired by our CEO and use this to share learning. As a QI team, we are trying to align more closely with our divisions to help with understanding their priorities and also link in with projects that might be cross division. I don’t know if the BOB/ICS has plans in the pipeline to help with the issue of shared learning..
