The ‘management’ in the title ‘Quality Management System’ shows the your ‘Quality’ is being ‘managed’ – not your emloyees!! Please comment.
A few thoughts:
In order to manage quality you have to manage all your resources that includes but not limited to financial, accommodation, equipment, consumables and human. It is after all a system.
The highest quality becomes within your reach when you can manage all in a coherent and a inherent way. A good quality management system requires leadership and not just compliance.
Healthcare is a humanistic service, QM systems in healthcare have to develop on from a manufacturing QMS, in to a service based QMS, which is the basis for most quality management theories.
In service based QMS Quality = Trust

The link between employee engagement and quality is well established. ‘Happiness is doing something worthwhile’ – if you are working with colleagues to create quality products or services, you are likely to be motivated and effective. That engagement often needs channelling (encouragement, direction and coaching) to meet collective quality goals. These efforts I feel are poorly summarised in the verb, ‘to manage’
I manage my finances, I manage my time, I manage pension ……. etc and, most importantly to me I manage my work. That’s what I get paid for (or was prior to retierment). If I called it anything else I’m not sure that anyone would know what I was talking about.
