The communication and spread of this piece of work is tricky as it doesn’t sit nicely within a specialism or established audience. Therefore we’ve started with our own professional magazine and will see what else we can do.-

I wonder if more frameworks and contract specifications should start to include sustainability as a criteria for assessment and award? yes we would definitely include oral nutritional supplements within the scope. We’re focusing on avoidable waste – common items include ONS, topical products, continence items, dressings etc. I am in contact with one care home team who are planning a QI project specifically on reducing waste of ONS.
