Biography

Mark W. Thorpe is a registered mental health nurse and a BSc (Hons) behavioural analyst & intervention advisor/coach. He works for Mersey Care’s NHS Foundation Trust – Centre for Perfect Care, where he’s currently a programme lead/quality improvement partner.

Over the past 28 years he has experienced a number of nursing roles. He is also a positive behavioural (PBS) coach under BILD, Crisis Negotiator, qualified European Life Coach and a member of Q Community, connecting people with improvement expertise across the UK. He has also presented Nationally/internationally and his work has been highlighted in national guidance (NHS Improvement model) this line of work focussed on DASA – a risk assessment tool to predict aggression

A lead author in a widely acclaimed book highlighting risk offending behaviour (Violent and Sexual Offenders - Assessment, Treatment and Management.) His aim is to utilise his background knowledge, skills, and experience to link new improvement ideas & innovations to support the enhancement of front-line care delivery.

He worked on the intensive care ward (13 years) and admissions (15 years) In a north west forensic setting. More recently being called to support a government pilot improvement idea focussing on a safety framework for the Health Foundation. Following this successful pilot he was asked to support a drive around this nationally.

He was later approached to work under corporate services as a quality Improvement partner. This allowed him to utilise his skills and knowledge and identify best ways to engage and create buy in to training and new ways of working.
