I am a Consultant Stroke Physician at Morriston Hospital for the last 10 years and served in various management roles starting as Clinical Lead for Stroke (2016-2020), then as Clinical director for  the entire division of Medicine and all sub-specialties (2020-2023, having led the organisation through the Covid pandemic).

I am currently an Interim Associate Medical Director for Quality and Safety at Morriston Hospital, a busy tertiary centre in South West Wales. I am also an Improvement advisor, having successfully completed the Scottish Improvement Leader program, cohort 44.

My primary interest is focussing on quality of care and have undertaken various patient centred quality improvement projects.  As a team, we were able to reduce the waiting time for TIA (Transient Ischaemic attack) clinic by three-fold. This was achieved without any extra investments and attracted a lot of interest in the local community. The team was nominated for the BMJ awards in 2018.

I have successfully completed the medical leadership programme with AcademiWales (PG Cert Medical Leadership) and was able to apply the learning towards service improvement projects.

As a patient-centred clinician, I have also undertaken multiple clinical research projects as primary investigator and chief investigator (two) in Stroke medicine, currently doing my PhD program with Swansea University.  I am leading the research community within my role as deputy lead for Stroke research in Wales, appointed by Heath care research wales (2019-till date).

I am the secretary for the Welsh Association of Stroke Physicians, thereby continuing to work towards improving services, patient care and patient experience both locally and nationally.
