Jill's main interests are in Human Factors and Applied Psychology research.
Whilst studying for her MA (Hons) Psychology at the University of Aberdeen, Jill was introduced to Human Factors, and subsequently went on to conduct applied research investigating Safety Culture and Non-Technical Skills in agricultural safety. This research experience was complemented by a year-long, full time internship in the Energy sector, and a six-month internship in a Clinical Psychology department. These experiences led to her interest in pragmatic applied research, organisational learning, and patient experiences.
After a hiatus from academia to teach Psychology and Science around the world, Jill completed her PhD entitled "Investigating human-system interaction to improve safety outcomes in Integrated Urgent Care telephone triage". This project was conducted with a provider of NHS 111, and applied systems thinking principles to identify system-specific risks in telephone triage, as well as develop an evidence-based framework to improve organisational learning in telephone triage systems.
Drawing on her portfolio career and guided by her core values of justice, kindness, and curiosity, Jill currently works at Trinity College Dublin as Research Fellow and Network Manager for Ireland's new Evidence-Based QUality Improvement and Patient Safety Research Network (EQUIPS).
Jill is interested in connecting with Q members in Ireland who would like to learn more about the EQUIPS Research Network.
