Honiton Hospital League of Friends was set up in its modern form in the early 1980's. The charity has always been extremely active in supporting the work of a busy community hospital including an inpatient unit for people with dementia, a medical ward and a community birthing unit. With the closure of all inpatient beds in 2018 the Trustees moved to include community healthcare and wellbeing within the work of the charity. Along with fund-raising and volunteering opportunities The League takes every opportunity to promote all the work of the hospital and community teams and through the Covid-19 pandemic has proved to be a valuable link between the hospital and the wider community.
I am passionate about community driven health and wellbeing initiatives and have developed a culture of "community conversations" locally to enable people from all sections of our community to have a "voice" on the health and community issues that matter to them most.
