All healthcare organisations say that they aim to improve health outcomes for patients and the population - but how do we know that we are achieving this? That is the aim of my role as Head of Patient Outcomes for King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust - to measure clinical outcomes and the outcomes that matter most to patients, to use these as the focus to drive improvement.
I work closely with our QI team, patient experience team, strategy team, business intelligence unit and costings team. Together we are working to improve value, i.e. achieving the best outcomes AND improving our use of resources. I would love to connect with anyone else working in patient outcomes and High Value Care (aka value-based healthcare).
I have previously worked in acute, community, mental health and primary care sectors, in local and national roles, in clinical audit, clinical effectiveness, evidence-based practice, informatics and clinical governance.
