Biography

I have been working in the world of Radiotherapy since 2007, when I was employed as a Trainee Assistant Practitioner, supporting the 4-Tier structure, and as an alternative route into the profession. I have always been an advocate for quality, and proactively involved myself in numerous service delivery initiatives and projects. In 2015 I moved to Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust as a Senior Therapy Radiographer, and my involvement in quality improvement and safety grew exponentially.

In 2017 I gained the position of Quality Assurance Manager, which has recently been re-structured to Quality and Safety Manager, in Radiotherapy. This role is very much focused on quality management, but also quality improvement, within Oncology, and supporting multi-disciplinary approaches to improvement initiatives.

I have been involved with the LASER (London and South East Regions) Quality Managers Group since 2016, and more recently involved in the RTQSIG (Radiotherapy Quality Specialist Interest Group). I am also a member of the ePREM project initiated by the RTQSIG, and am very excited about working on larger QI initiatives.

I enjoy networking, meeting new people and getting involved in groups that have a focus on quality and safety cultures in healthcare. I also am a firm advocate of empowerment and recognising that for change to be sustainable, giving the skills and tools to others will help drive improvement from the bottom up. Engagement is vital.

A little background - I have 3 children, 2 of which are on the cusp of independence (except when they run out of money); I am the owner of a partner who has a vast collection of Warhammer Toys (or 'models' as he refers to them); I enjoy gardening, cooking, reading, writing, wine, wine, photography, and wine.
