Biography

Dr Aoife Molloy is clinical lead for the Evidence Based Interventions Programme at NHS England and Improvement, this programme aims to reduce inappropriate interventions in healthcare. She was a National Medical Director’s Clinical Fellow at the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, working on projects on shared decision making and guideline adaptation. She was a fellow at the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges developing the Choosing Wisely Initiative. She studied medicine at Trinity College, Dublin, and became a member of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of Ireland and England before moving to the UK to pursue specialty training in acute internal medicine and infectious diseases. She is interested in how policy making informs quality of health care, specifically how evidence is used to select initiatives as priorities in times of austerity. She has a Masters in the Science of Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and is currently undertaking a NIHR funded PhD at Imperial College London Patient Safety Translational Research Centre.
