This is a question for Richard Millington following today’s excellent webinar.  What platforms do you recommend for communities to connect with and share resources in between COP meetings?  At Macmillan Cancer Support, we host many COPs for Macmillan Professionals but currently, we do not have a sharing platform where they can connect and chat in between meetings.  We are exploring internal options but coming up against cultural and IT barriers.  For example, Slack has been mentioned to me.  What do you recommend? Thank you 🙂

    • Hi Lucinda, I’m not sure if Richard is in this group but maybe @joriamramos or @matthewmezey could forward this question to him?

From my own personal experience it really depends on the needs and preferences of the group (and the organisation of course) as there are SO many platforms out there. Often if it’s a temporary group (like a CoP meeting x amount of times over a period and then that’s it) it’s good to choose a platform that people are already on and part of other groups on – like Slack, WhatsApp or Facebook.

We are generally platform fatigue and it can be a lot to ask people to join a new or specific one unless there’s an attractive reason.

I’m happy to have a chat to share the small research I’ve done in to this (mainly through being part of a lot of different groups and platforms myself) if useful. Or you could try and share a bit about the group’s purpose + needs and maybe I – or others in this group – could help more specifically?

      Warmest, Maria (Q Community Convener)

    • I’ll forward the question to Richard and I’ll get back to you @lucinda-hollinshead 🙂
