We are looking for a speaker for a national workshop on Patient Safety in Primary Care. Does anyone have any good recommendations? Thanks in advance!!

    • Tagging the convenor @rammya-mathew here, she might have a recommendation 🙂 (or maybe even herself if she’s available? can’t imagine a better speaker!)

      • Thank you! @rammya-mathew we are still looking for someone- the brief is below. I’m reaching out to an author of a paper on preventable harm in PC today as well but I’m starting to worry we won’t find someone in time so please if anyone knows anyone hit me up!! Thanks so much. 🙂

    • Hi April,
Have you got a particular theme? I work in patient safety and as a GP, so may be able to think of some contacts. Email me Elizabeth.Sweeting@yhia.nhs.uk

    • Hi Lizzie,
Thanks for responding. It’s really about re-starting a national conversation about safety in primary care in Scotland. I am looking at having a speaker for 30 minutes to kick it off, followed by a workshop of 45 minutes to dive into the detail. Aims along the lines of- 1) Exploring key issues and challenges around patient safety in general practice at the moment. 2) Any actions/priorities/approaches could support patient safety improvement in the current context. This would most likely involve bringing in an element of presenting evidence and research alongside experience of the system.

I’ve initially contacted Stewart Mercer at Edinburgh Uni but also looking for other options.

Date of the event is 20 September. It will be a hybrid event located at the Golden Jubilee Hospital. I expect most participants will be joining online.

Professor Singh is a world leader in quality and safety and he’ll be sharing his thoughts on achieving diagnostic excellence in primary care. We ae delighted to have the opportunity to work with him.
