Volunteers needed: help test a new survey tool via cognitive interview

Summary: Our evaluation & Insight team are looking for volunteers to test a new survey tool, which we developed as part of project on defining and measuring staff engagement in major change. (https://www.thiscovery.org/project/staff-engagement-major-change/)

The ask: To join a one hour call over the next two weeks in which you’ll test a survey in real time with our researcher

What to expect: We will invite you to answer the questions in our survey tool whilst on the call with our researcher, who will ask you some additional exploratory questions relating to your experience of filling in the survey; this may include asking what certain words mean to you, how easy questions are to answer, etc.

Further background: It is common to follow the development of any new measurement tool with a period of what is called cognitive testing. Before we finalise this new measurement approach, we want to ensure that would-be participants can fully understand the questions being asked without confusion or ambiguity.

What we’re looking for:  We’re simply looking to hear your experience of answering this survey so that we can make any important changes that relate to user experience, for example improving unclear language.

Eligibility: We particularly welcome Q members, but also those signed up as guests to Q (e.g to join online groups)

We’re looking for participants who have NOT already been part of developing the measures in the main project

What benefits will I get? This would be a voluntary activity and would not be paid. However, we can offer a one-off incentive of £50 worth of vouchers. As testing is a key part of this work, we would also credit you for your involvement in our final report (with your permission)

If you’re interested: If you’re interested and have availability, please email henry.cann@health.org.uk and let us know – we’ll take it from there.
