    An excellent new paper by a team from THIS Institute on how GPs spend their time in clinical sessions has just been published in the BJGP. Using time-motion and ethnographic methods, the study highlights a range of issues that make it difficult for GPs to complete tasks – such as equipment and supply deficits, interruptions and problems with work processes – and cause frustration and delay to professionals and patients alike. It’s a paper that provides plenty of food for thought for improvers in general practice and is well worth a read. https://bjgp.org/content/early/2021/10/04/BJGP.2021.0357

      Thanks Bryan. This is such an interesting paper. Highlights something we GPs have known about for years, but to capture it in a formal piece of research is very valuable. Unfortunately it made my stress levels rise just by reading it 🙂 I find operational failues outwith my control as a leader of a practice (IT, secondary care, communication with other providers) SO much harder to handle than the internal issues I can easily influence.
