Q strengthens its Advisory Board with three new members

Pedro Delgado, Anna King and Dr Amar Shah join Q’s Advisory Board as it seeks to enhance support for its diverse 5,000-strong improvement community and shape the external context it operates within.

The three new members will bring their diverse perspectives to the Q Advisory Board as it helps steer the next stage of development, to make sure the community is dynamic and sustainable to 2030 and beyond.

They were selected after an extensive open competitive recruitment process and each have a wealth of experience and expertise in improvement. They are:

  • Dr Amar Shah, Consultant forensic psychiatrist and Chief Quality Officer at East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT). Amar has led the approach to quality at ELFT for 10 years, embedding a large-scale quality improvement infrastructure and quality management system, with demonstrable results across key areas of organisational performance.
  • Anna King, Commercial Director at the Health Innovation Network (HIN), South London’s Academic Health Science Network. Anna is also founder-partner of DigitalHealth.London. She is a chartered accountant, with over 25 years’ experience advising and working with public and private health care organisations as well as companies working with the NHS. Anna has been instrumental in establishing the HIN at the forefront of the spread and adoption of innovation in the NHS.
  • Pedro Delgado, Vice President of the Institute of Healthcare Improvement (IHI). Pedro oversees IHI’s portfolio of work in Europe and Latin America and has been a driving force in its global expansion. Before joining IHI, he held roles in hospital management and large-scale improvement leadership in the UK.

They join Q’s Advisory Board as it implements its five new priorities for the next two years. The priorities include building capability through working on real world issues and developing resources and expertise to support integration across all sectors that are brought together in local systems. They also include increasing member engagement, embedding equity, diversity and inclusion, and working with partners to bring Q’s skills and experience to new audiences.

Malte Gerhold, Q’s Advisory Board Chair and Director of Innovation and Improvement at the Health Foundation, says:

‘I am delighted to welcome Pedro, Anna and Amar to our Advisory Board, all of whom are widely recognised and highly respected in the improvement community. They are committed to Q’s principles of collaborative design, open learning and iterative improvement and I know they will challenge us and offer us the broad perspectives we need to continue to grow Q’s profile and impact in a complex integrated health and care environment.’
