Announcing the Q Exchange 5 shortlist

Find out more about the projects that made this year's shortlist and what happens next

At its core, our community is cross-boundary and multi-disciplinary. And our funding programme, Q Exchange, is a powerful example of how working together on a shared challenge can bring about meaningful, long-lasting change. The next stages of the programme are central to this: the final decisions on which projects will receive funding are in your hands.

How we chose the shortlist

This year we received a huge range of fantastic proposals on our theme: How can improvement be used to reduce delays in accessing health and care services? We’re excited by the potential for the projects on the shortlist to generate real-world change.

Thank you to everyone on our assessment panels who reviewed the projects and helped whittle down the shortlist from 120 to the final 30. The projects put forward by the assessment panels were reviewed by the Health Foundation and NHS England to create the final shortlist.

The teams have put forward compelling and innovative proposals. Their work has the potential to make a real difference in reducing delays and finding solutions that the wider community can learn from. There are also some ambitious aims with strong collaborative elements, engaging a wide range of people across health and care. The shortlist covers a variety of themes, including:

  • prioritisation on waiting lists, with a focus on health inequalities
  • using multi-disciplinary teams to manage referrals
  • Improving the experience of waiting to avoid deconditioning
  • shifting care from acute to primary or community care
  • managing outpatient appointments
  • managing data and waiting on a system level.

We’re excited to see how these projects progress.

Which projects will get your vote?

We’ve now entered the stage of Q Exchange where project teams will be campaigning for your support, within the bounds of the Q compact. Over the coming weeks, these projects will be encouraging you to explore their ideas and, from Tuesday 23 May – Tuesday 6 June, to vote for them. Have a look at their proposals and consider who you would like to receive up to £40k funding.

We’ve summarised each of the shortlisted projects to make it easier for you to browse and dive into the ones you want to find out more about.

Your perspective matters. We know that you value the sense of affinity Q offers; the shared aspirations of the community and the peer support to help each other get there. That’s why it’s so important that the final funded projects are chosen by you.

Please put some time aside to vote between 23 May and 6 June. We want your valuable insight to influence the projects that Q supports.
