What is the challenge your project is going to address and how does it connect to the theme of 'How can we improve across system boundaries?

Despite organisations commiting and contracting to collaborate at the ICS system level, individual staff and local teams struggle to participate and put the politics into practice in a meaningful way. Tens of thousands of talented committed workers in the system remain siloed in their functional teams without the visibility or means to connect and collaborate with their peers and colleagues. For most, the ICS landscape is the same as it has always been at a team level – and this misses a huge opportunity for new and better ways of working together for patients in a transformative way.

What does your project aim to achieve?

This test aims to connect staff from 3 or more organisations within the ICS, and at least one organisation in the community. We aim to create and increase across organisation boundaries:

  1. Connections between staff
  2. Improvement orientated activities shared
  3. Skills shared between staff to contribute to improvement activities
  4. A replicable measurement system for understanding and sharing system collaboration

How will the project be delivered?

The test is sponsored by Loy Lobo, an ICS NED with a wealth of Health Tech experience. Loy will work closely with ICS organisational execs to establish the conditions within the test organisations to increase engagement. Loy will be closely supported by the Q members who established Hexitime set up the software and measurement system required to evaluate to the test and troubleshoot on a day-to-day basis.

The test will be conducted on the new v.2 Hexitime platform over an 18 month period using local champions to host learning events on respective sites.

How is your project going to share learning?

We want to develop a case study we can showcase to other ICS systems and show what is possible. Our main learning sharing strategy will be to use the NED networks to share the evaluation and make introductions to boards in the country. This will be supported by online Q&A and presentation sessions going into the details of what did and did not work over the 18 month evaluation.

How you can contribute

  • We are particularly interested in working with any Q members who have used Hexitime timebanking and/or are based in the NWL ICS.
