Meet the team

What is the challenge your project is going to address and how does it connect to the theme of 'How can we improve across system boundaries?

The need for Women’s Health services to be local and accessible.

The need for an outreach clinic for local women who travel to Central London for maternity care.

The need to improve health literacy around Women’s Health to reduce inequalities.

What does your project aim to achieve?

To set up a pilot outreach clinic combining staff and services from different NHS organisations, in collaboration with local charities and Public Health services. The clinic will initially focus on reproductive health including

midwifery booking appointments

obstetric scan appointments

perinatal pelvic health

How will the project be delivered?

Two midwives will be seconded to the project 4 days a week to set up and run a clinic in the area linking local hospitals, Public Health and community organisations.

Data for a business plan for a sustainable one-stop women’s health centre together with Patient and Public input and feedback will be collated throughout the project set-up.

The project will be delivered in collaboration with the local health authorities and co-created with patient groups of different ages and local charities.

An academic team will contribute to data collection and analysis using rapid evaluation methods.

How is your project going to share learning?

As an innovative pilot to link different organisations providing NHS Women’s Health care, an evaluation will be embedded in the project which will be shared with local organisations and stakeholders. The evaluation will also be available through publication in relevant midwifery practice journal.

  1. Hi Sara, great idea and aligns with some our thinking in Northwest London. I'd be keen to understand more about your approaches to improving health literacy specifically to reduce health inequalities.

We've put in a Q exchange idea tackling ethnic inequities in experience of maternity care and would be good to hear your thoughts as well.
