Dr Lizzie Cottrell is a Senior Lecturer in General Practitioner and a General Practitioner Partner. Her Ph.D. focused on the attitudes and beliefs of GPs regarding clinical knee osteoarthritis. She has now taken this work forward into her post-doctoral research and implementation work, in which she focuses on improving primary care management of musculoskeletal problems, specifically osteoarthritis and osteoporosis. Lizzie has an interest in the delivery of services, both in terms of understanding healthcare professionals’ behaviours, exploring new service models and evaluating service delivery, in particular the newer professional roles and new innovations. Combining her academic and clinical expertise, she is now a member of the implementation team at Keele University and is a Partner at the first Keele University Academic Primary Care practice. These roles provide Lizzie with the platform to bridge the gap between research evidence and real world clinical practice and to support all general practices to deliver high quality care.
