I’ve got one book on this topic that’s been sitting on my bookshelf for years, unread. Have somehow felt a bit intimidated about getting into that gnarly topic! 😉

We teach institutional dynamins on the pre-reg APH MA Art Psychotherapy and MA Music Therapy courses so I try to keep on top of these topics/systems change/organisational dynamics as much as I can. I am looking into trauma informed organisations at the moment as part of my doctoral study.
To be honest, I had thought the book I had was called something like The Unconscious at Work. But it seems it’s actually called ‘Narcissistic Process and Corporate Decay – The Theory of the Organization Ideal’, by Howards Schwartz!
It’s never seemed to be quite the right day for me to dive into that complicated topic! 😉
This may be the nudge I need.
I tend myself to use Kegan, Argyris, Torbert etc to understand orgs. It’s not exactly psychodynamics, but often a rather parallel stream of thinking, perhaps. Prof Kegan’s a psychotherapist, I think.
The most untried and unusual thing I’d love some day to be able try with a healthcare organisation (eg an ICS?) would be a combination of a Systemic Constellation workshop and the non-dual consciousness arising in the ‘Big Mind’ practice (which is a Gestalt therapy/Zen/Jungian hybrid method).
I’m basically just intrigued about whether new insights into NHS’s systemic challenges (and possible solutions) would arise from making use of such novel and intuitive (even non-egoic) methods.
I can safely say there’s no groundswell of support for such an approach 😉 (Yet!)
