Improvement Coach in a large mental health and community physical and mental health NHS Trust covering Lancashire and South Cumbria.

I've spent my entire career, since 1986, in the NHS and have about 20 years of clinical experience, mostly in secure mental health.

I graduated as an Occupational Therapist in 1992 and worked in OT until about 2008.

Astonishingly (to me!) I've spend almost as much time, since those days, in transformation, lean improvement, project and programme management, governance, compliance and quality surveillance as well as continuous improvement.

I'm now a senior Improvement Coach supporting collaborative programmes (akin to Breakthrough Series) and using microsytems approaches where practical.

My organisation has adopted the IHI Model for Improvement so we train in it and apply it into practice with as much consistency as possible.
