Biography

After completing my adult nursing degree I worked in General Medicine before specialising in the world famous Liver Transplant Unit at Kings College Hospital, London.  I absolutely loved this speciality and felt passionate about patient care and experience. I developed into an Nurse Educator role in the Liver Unit and influenced and improved patient outcomes by supporting nurses with clinical training.  I then moved to Guys and St Thomas' and worked as a Practice Development Nurse in the GI unit before taking a nursing management role, leading on the International Nursing and Nursing Preceptorship programmes which supported safety and excellence in practice.

After 10 years in London I returned back to the North West and became a Surgical Matron at Blackpool Teaching Hospital. In 2020 I became a QSIR associate and joined the newly formed Quality Improvement Team as a  Quality Improvement Programme Manager.

My passion for improvement has meant that I have been able to use my nursing background to design and deliver innovative QI programmes, such as the HSJ award winning Last 1000 Days programme, which aims to keep people out of hospital, in the place they love for longer. I specialise in co-design and have completed  ILM Level 7 Executive Coaching qualification at Salford University.
